Meeting Minutes for February 2nd, 2011
Meeting Notes for February 2nd, 2011
The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot
dogs, with Melinda’s famous chili! Also salad and chips and cookies.
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by President Bill Dewey and
Sec./Tres. Randy Stout also present. The 17 members and guests in
attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting
thing happened this last month”. President Bill suggested we give a
quick “first solo” story to add to our introduction. To that end, he
brought in his clipped T shirt from his first solo, which turns out to
be 50 years ago this spring.
John Stahr from Chapter 1457 offered to make up signs that say “Don’t
drive on the grass”. It turns out that someone did just that this
month, so we hope to get them as soon as possible.
Several members had asked for “Come visit us at Chapter 31” stickers
for the Sport Aviation and Vintage Aircraft magazines that they want
to put in various doctors and dentists offices. Randy brought and gave
out a good number again at this meeting.
The next Chapter 31 breakfast will be held on Saturday, 19th of February.
The Memorial Area plans are still progressing. At the last meeting is
was decided that Bill Dewey will contact his daughter who works at the
U of O architecture department, and his other daughter to help
engineer a bridge and see if we can get our concept sketch put
together to give to Shelly (and from there the City of Creswell). We
still hope to have the final site chosen and a rough idea as to what
the city of Creswell wants in the way of bridges (or hopefully just a
filled in culvert) by the next meeting. A 6×6 beam bridge was a
suggestion by Bills daughter. After submitting a plan, getting City
approval will be the next hurdle. Bill promises to keep the pressure
on to find an engineer/architecture student to help with this project.
He did mention that a stipend is customary.
Past President Ben is still working on getting a new computer to
dedicate to our projector project in order to watch TV and DVD’s
without someone having to bring a laptop. Randy and Walt have
purchased paint and spackle in order to make the “big screen” even
more viewable. Ben mentioned that he would love to have a donated
computer under 5 years old with 1/2 to 1 GB of memory. Past Pres. Dave
said he has a laptop that might work. Stay tuned!!
Secretary Stout will bring a list of paid members to the meeting next
month. If you don’t see your name, please see him with your $25 dues.
Daniel Cathy was then complimented on his article that was just
published on the EAA Chapter 31 website. He noted that Bruce and Glen
Grelle have a whole bunch of old Sport Aviation magazines and a nice
170 for sale. Call him if you want a library full or a new plane. He
also mentioned that the OACAC group may fly in for breakfast and
possibly lunch before the Lake Chelan fly-in. Also the Stearman fly-in
should have the Boeing 40 here again this year.
Secretary Stout mentioned that the CG airport fuel island only
dispenses fuel on pump #2. Save yourself some trouble and start with
that pump before trying to fuel up.
The passing of Past President Dave Kenyon and FAA guy Jim Wright was
then noted. May they both head into the sunset for a safe arrival.
Charlie Walker has a RV-6 tail and many RV-6 jigs for sale. He is
going to finish Jim Wrights RV-9 and asked if any club members would
like to help.
We are still attempting to fill the vacant VP slot, and vote for a
Secretary and Treasurer. Please have nominees names ready at the next
meeting. Also, please ask the so nominated person if they would
consent to serve if elected in order to avoid any embarrassment if
they have to decline in public.
That concluded the business portion of the meeting.
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:22 PM .
Respectfully submitted,
Randall Stout

Meeting Notes for January 5th, 2011
The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, without (sadly) Melinda’s famous chili but we did have a nice salad and chips and banana bread. Still a bargain at $4!!
Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM by President Bill Dewey and Sec./Tres. Randy Stout also present. The 19 members and guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting thing happened this last month”. Among the guests were past member of chapter 31 and (past?) President of chapter 1452 John Stahr. He mentioned that he has 2/3’rds of a 172 for sale. Randy Stout mentioned that his hangar at Creswell will be available for a few months, starting March 1st, while he and Walt complete the RV-12.
Several members had asked for “Come visit us at Chapter 31” stickers for the Sport Aviation and Vintage Aircraft magazines that they want to put in various doctors and dentists offices. Randy brought and gave out a good number during the meeting.
The next Chapter 31 breakfast will be held on Saturday, 15th of January. Check the web site to be sure this date hasn’t been changed or cancelled due to the Duck parade on that same day.
The just past Christmas party was the next topic of discussion. The (very much enjoyed) choices of Prime Rib or Salmon entrees were excellent as usual (thanks Brent for your cooking expertise), along with a raffle of various prizes. The club provided the baked potatoes and veggies, along with the entrée. President Bill also came up with a great deal on dishes and flatware, so next time we get together, we can have an equally elegant dinner. Thanks to all who helped and attended. It was a memorable evening!
The Memorial Area plans are still progressing. At the meeting is was decided that Bill Dewey will contact his daughter who works at the U of O architecture department, and his other daughter to help engineer a bridge and see if we can get our concept sketch put together to give to Shelly (and from there the City of Creswell). We hope to have the final site chosen and a rough idea as to what the city of Creswell wants in the way of bridges (or hopefully just a filled in culvert) by the next meeting. After that, getting City approval will be the next hurdle. It makes the actual building of the area a simple matter.
The article in the Register Guard about Scott Henderson was the next topic. After much discussion, it is noted that everyone is saddened by this apparent lack of judgment regarding recreational drug use and flying.
Past President Ben is still working on getting a new computer to dedicate to our projector project in order to watch TV and DVD’s without someone having to bring a laptop. Ben then presented the club with cash from the Christmas party that he, Dave and Melinda and other group members have worked so hard on. Thanks again to everybody who helped!!
Dave Heisley mentioned that he will be turning the water off for the last part of January and part of February to exercise his ownership rights to the water. He asked last month if he could replace the bulb in the outdoor light, but when it proved to need more than a bulb, he enlisted Walt and Randy to help replace the fixture. It seems to work great now.
Dave also asked that we make up a sign that states “Please do not drive on the grass, septic field damage can result!” or some such. John Stahr offered to make 2 such signs (with much clearer language hopefully) and we will put them up by the side of the building. That’s inter-chapter cooperation if I have ever seen it!
Daniel Cathy was then complimented on his article that was just published in the OACAC newsletter. Maybe he will be so kind as to post another story on Chapter 31’s website? In the meantime, Daniel nominated Dave and Melinda Petersen to be our volunteer(s) of the year for 2010 and be so recognized on our plaque. This nomination was moved and 2nded, passed unanimously. Several people also came to mind when this subject was brought up, but they either have already won the award, or will be so honored next year.
The Chapter 31 Service Awards were then given out to all the guilty parties. Thanks from every member of the group to those who have served this year.
We are still attempting to fill the vacant VP slot, and vote for a Secretary and Treasurer. Please have nominees names ready at the next meeting. Also, please ask the so nominated person if they would consent to serve if elected in order to avoid any embarrassment if they have to decline in public.
That concluded the business portion of the meeting. Past President Ben then came forward and gave a nice presentation on mini-video cameras that add fun to every flight (or trip around the area). He explained the functions and capabilities of the MD-80 with 8GB of memory and a larger unit that is able to be mounted to a stand. They were available on the internet for $15 and $60 respectively, so cost is not a big objection to adding this your flight bag. Thanks Ben for showing us your (always) cutting edge gadgets!
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:18 PM .

Minutes from the November 3rd Meeting
The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot
dogs, Dave (or really Melinda’s) famous chili, salad, chips and
cookies. Still a bargain at $4!! A DVD about the construction of all
electric panels was begun at 6:50 and stopped at 7:10, with the idea
that any member interested in viewing the whole 2 ½ hours could take
the DVD home and commence where we left off.
Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM by President Ben Hallert with
officers V.P. Bill Dewey and Sec./Tres. Randy Stout also present. The
17 members in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief
“What exciting thing happened this last month”.
Rusty Bartell noted that there will be a blood drive at the Creswell
Library on the 6th of November, and, on a different subject, he would
entertain offers on his 1997 Bounder Motorhome. It is a 32’ model with
a 454 and GMC chassis, a generator and queen in back. Make him an
offer!! Tom Hastings said that he has a 1965 Cessna 182 for sale with
1100 hrs. TT on a 0-520. He wants in the $30,000’s for it. Randy Stout
talked about his Blackhawk helicopter visit by the Army at his strip
in Jasper, and his trips to the Dr.’s office to put out Sport Aviation
magazines. Several members asked for stickers for the magazines so
that they could do the same, which Randy will bring to the January
meeting.
The next Chapter 31 breakfast will be held on Saturday, 20th of
November, after which will be a clubhouse cleaning session in
preparation for the Christmas party. There will be no regular
Wednesday meeting or breakfast in December.
The upcoming Christmas party was the next topic of discussion. A firm
date of December 11th was decided on due to conflicts with the U of
O/OSU game on the 4th. Chapter 1452 will join the fun, and President
Ben will send John Starr an email with all the particulars. The much
enjoyed choice of Prime Rib or Salmon entrees are on tap, and a raffle
of various prizes. People with last names from A-M are suggested to
bring a side dish, N-Z a desert. The club will provide baked potatoes
and veggies, along with the entrée. Please email your choice of entrée
so that we can purchase the correct amount.
The Memorial Area plans are still progressing. At the meeting is was
decided that Bill Dewey will contact his daughter who works at the U
of O architecture department, and 2 other members will also contact a
person they know, to see if we can get our concept sketch put together
to give to Shelly (and from there the City of Creswell). The hardest
part of this plan is the artists rendering, which we will have
accomplished by the first of the year hopefully. After that, getting
City approval will be the next hurdle. It makes the actual building of
the area a simple matter.
Dave Eason (with the help of Mat Northway) has completed the painting
on the new patio cover. Thanks Dave!!
The OACAC meeting that was held at the clubhouse on the 23rd of
October was a success, in part thanks to Dave Petersen and family for
providing the food for lunch. The only glitch was that the projector
decided to overheat (a problem that has since been corrected). They
also scheduled next years fly-out to Lake Chelan at the meeting.
The video projector project has been completed and works great (now
that the overheating problem has been fixed). Walt and Randy will be
painting the Screen and the ceiling panel in the next month or so to
put on the final touches. President Ben will be working on getting a
new computer to dedicate to this project in order to watch TV and
DVD’s without someone having to bring a laptop.
Dave Petersen also presented the club with $160 in cash from all of
his various meal activities that he, Melinda and other group members
have worked so hard on. Thanks again Dave and everybody who helped!!
Bob Severns has been added as an additional Tech Counselor. He and Ken
Schmidt will compliment each others interests, abilities and time
available. Bob has great motor repair and homebuilding skills, Ken is
a whiz at sheet metal and antique/classics. Thanks to both of them for
this help!
Dave Heisley mentioned that we may be contacted by another group of RC
enthusiasts about the use of the clubhouse for their 2nd Wednesday of
the Month meetings. The club would be happy to have them, with the
normal $250/Year contribution for the use of the facilities. He was
also asked if he could replace the bulb in the outdoor light, to which
he graciously said he would.
Dave Eason mentioned that his son is an Air Force representative, and
would love an opportunity to speak to the group for about 15 minutes
about the Air Force Academy. It was warmly decided to invite him to
the January or February meeting, his choice.
Ben Hallert noted that this would be his last meeting as President, as
he has fulfilled his 2 year commitment. We will have elections in
January to fill the then vacant VP slot, and vote for a Secretary and
Treasurer. Please have nominees names ready at that meeting. Also,
please ask the so nominated person if they would consent to serve if
elected in order to avoid any embarrassment if they have to decline in
public. A BIG thanks to Ben for his leadership during the past 2
years!!
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:28 PM .

Meeting Notes for October 6th, 2010
The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, Dave (or really Melinda’s) famous chili, salad, chips and cookies. Still a bargain at $4!!
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Sec./Tres. Randy Stout due to illness on the part of President Ben Hallert with V.P. Bill Dewey gone still on vacation. The 15 members and guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting thing happened this last month”. Among the guests was Jakona Matson-Bell, Tim Talen’s talented Ragwood Refactory employee who helped tremendously with Steve Kretsingers 1937 Taylor J-2.
The next Chapter 31 breakfast will be held on Saturday, 16th of October.
The Memorial Area plans are still progressing. As soon as everyone is back from vacation we hope to meet and get the planning process off TDC.
Dave Eason stated that the painting on the new patio cover should be done by next meeting.
The upcoming Christmas party was the next topic of discussion. A tentative date of December 4th was decided on. Dave Petersen mentioned that Ben Hallert will be co-coordinating the festivities this year. Chapter 1452 was invited to join the fun, and Bob Severns will formally invite them at their next meeting. The much enjoyed Prime Rib-Salmon entrees were suggested and a raffle of various prizes. No auction at this time is expected.
We received a nice thank you note and check from the Victory Tabernacle church. They used the facility to stage their own flying event for the kids at the end of September.
Dave Petersen gave a brief YE report. We flew 49 kids with only 3 club planes and pilots, and help from Rick Holman and his 172. Every kid who came got a flight! He has a more detailed report on the web site if you care to take a look. Ken Schmidt noted that Sporty’s has a very nice YE training area on their web site for those kids who are looking forward to the next flying event. Thanks to Dave, Ken and everyone who helped make this a successful event.
Daniel Cathy mentioned that the OACAC will be meeting at the clubhouse on the 23rd of October for their quarterly meeting. Everyone is invited to attend. Dave and Melinda Petersen have offered to make the lunch. The entertainment will be a power point presentation on this years Oregon Air Tour. They are also going to schedule next years fly-out to Lake Chelan at the meeting.
Daniel also noted that he still has the Colb and Adventura HP for sale and he noted that former member George Coulter has his Thorpe T-18 for sale for $26,000
Past President Dave Petersen then fired up the new Big Screen TV and we watched a few short videos and the longer version of the Taylor J-2 video. Bring something on DVD, thumb drive or whatever to next months meeting.
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:38 PM .

Minutes from the 9/1/10 meeting
Meeting Notes for September 1st, 2010
The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot
dogs, salad, chips and donut holes. Maybe spaghetti next month?
Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM by President Ben Hallert with V.P.
Bill Dewey and Sec./Tres. Randy Stout present also. The 18 members and
guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What
exciting thing happened this last month”. Among the guests was Fritz
the Powered Parachute guy. Bob Severns spoke about a trip he made with
Malcomb Steck to pick up a RV-1.
The next Chapter 31 breakfast will be held on Saturday, 11th of
September. Please remember that Dave Petersen asked for a bit of help
cleaning up prior to the event. The YE flying event will also be held
on September 11. Since this is the 2nd Saturday, we need to remind
everyone that breakfast will not be on the 3rd Saturday as the YE
event will also be our monthly breakfast event.
The Memorial Area plans are progressing. As noted before, we received
a copy of a letter from Paul Ehrhardt, a retired contractor, who has
offered to help with this project. He had actually approached the City
Council a year ago, but nothing came of it. Randy contacted him and he
expressed an interest in furthering this project. Several board
members and other interested people will meet with him in September to
see how next to proceed.
Bill Dewey then reminded Dave Eason that the painting on the new patio
cover needs to be done ASAP, as the weather will not last forever.
Dave Eason mentioned he would run this project so he plans on grabbing
his brush and helpers and slapping some stain on this month.
Daniel Cathy mentioned that Hal Skinner has an older Terra 720 X for
sale. It apparently needs a power unit to function again. You can
reach Hal at 541-746-3387
Bruce Curtis then asked if anyone had a quart of white poly tone paint
he could purchase. If so, give him a call.
The Crow Mag airport is having a Fly-In on Saturday the 25th of
September at 12:00. Free Hamburger BBQ with a potluck on (sic)side
dish and drink. Contact Conrad at 541-729-7498 for info. Drive or Fly
(2-1/2 mile west of Territorial Rd. on Suttle Road)
A nice report was then made by Gary Ludeke on the just completed OACAC
Oregon Air Tour. A great time was had by all. The weather changed 50
degrees from one stop to the next, which was only one of the several
weather challenges that the group faced. Thanks for the info- I hope
everyone can have a chance to go on an air tour in the future.
President Ben then fired up the new Big Screen TV and gave another
demo on how to log onto the web site and post. We also had a few short
videos and very funny pictures. This is going to be fun!! Bring
something on DVD, thumb drive or whatever to next months meeting.
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:18 PM .

Minutes from August 4th Meeting
Meeting Notes for August 4th, 2010
The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, salad, chips and cookies. One of the old refrigerators gave up the ghost, but we still had enough for a good feed!
Meeting called to order at 7:00:30 PM by President Ben Hallert with V.P. Bill Dewey and Sec./Tres. Randy Stout present also. The 20 members and guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting thing happened this last month”. Among the guests were Joe Boylan (Rusty Bartels son-in-law), Richard and Shelly Van Leuban (owner of 9 mostly experimental) from Lebanon, and John Wagner, his second meeting.
The next Chapter 31 breakfast will be held on Saturday, 21st of August. It was noted by Dave Petersen that the garbage needs a bit more attention. He also asked everyone to remember that we need to defrost the refrigerators every 6 months or so.
The YE flying event will be held on September 11. Dave asked everyone for a little clean up help with the clubhouse prior to the event. Since this is the 2nd Saturday, we need to remind everyone that breakfast will not be on the 3rd Saturday as the YE event will also be our monthly breakfast event.
Walt and Randy had all the parts this time (with the exception of the finishing stuff) so the projector bracket project is now (mostly) complete. We now have a 98” widescreen for viewing computer type screens, and over 106” widescreen for movies. SWEET!!
The Memorial Area plans are progressing. As noted before, we received a copy of a letter from Paul Ehrhardt, a retired contractor, who has offered to help with this project. He had actually approached the City Council a year ago, but nothing came of it. Randy contacted him and he expressed an interest in furthering this project. Several board members and other interested people will meet with him in August or September to see how next to proceed.
In a previous meeting, Brent Burgess had provided the club with info on Samantha Thomas, a young lady very interested in aviation and the aviation camp at LCC this August 9th to 13th. The cost is $490 and includes 3 hours of flight training. The board is still trying to create a process of establishing a scholarship fund for a kid or kids to go to aviation camps. With that in mind, the officers are asking anyone who also knows of a worthy family to forward this info to Ben. Unfortunately, no process has yet been approved for this years camp.
Member Tom Urban (541-741-4117) still has a Wag Aero 2+2 (PA-14 clone) for sale. It has most parts, the fuselage is welded and ready. He reports that the parts would sell for $20,000 from Wag Aero, but he only wants $8000. He also has a run out 0-320 core for $3800.
Bill Dewey has reminded everyone that the painting on the new patio cover needs to be done ASAP, as the weather will not last forever. Dave Eason mentioned he would run this project, but he was absent (and unable to defend himself -heh-heh), so hopefully when he sees this he will grab his brush and helpers and slap some stain on.
A brief report on Oshkosh 2010 was given. Since no one at the meeting actually attended, this second hand report will have to do until someone who was there can give a more thorough glimpse at the activities. Suffice to say that Steve Kretsingers 1936 Taylor J-2 won a plaque and had a nice photo shoot. Look for it in an upcoming issue of Sport Aviation or Vintage Aviation.
Another brief report on the just completed OACAC Oregon Air Tour was given by Daniel Cathy. A great time was had by all. The weather changed 50 degrees from one stop to the next, which was a challenge to everyone’s wardrobe and constitution.
President Ben then fired up the new Big Screen TV and gave a demo on how to log onto the web site and post. We also had a few short videos and very funny pictures. This is going to be fun!! Bring something on DVD, thumb drive or whatever to next months meeting. Surprise us!! (no- none of that kind of stuff Dave)
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:51 PM .

July 7th, 2010 meeting
The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, salad and cookies. Mighty fine!
Meeting called to order at 7:01 PM by V.P. Bill Dewey and Sec./Tres. Randy Stout also present. President Ben Hallert was absent with leave. The 18 members and guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting thing happened this last month”. Among the guests was John Wagner (who wants to build and RV-8), Ted Glick (EWEB employee who wants to build a RV-7) and Ted Walkup SR. and JR., here to discuss the memorial plans.
The next breakfast will be held on Saturday, 17th of July, and it will be in conjunction with the OACAC Oregon Air Tour start. Be there !
Member Tom Urban (541-741-4117) has a WagAero 2+2 (PA-14 clone) for sale. It has most parts, the fuselage is welded and ready. He reports that the parts would sell for $20,000 from WagAero, but he only wants $8000. He also has a run out 0-320 core for $3800.
As President Ben was absent, and Walt and Randy had all the parts except the lag bolts (which disappeared), so the projector bracket project is not yet complete. However, Walt and Randy did manage to get a large white board screen put up.
The Memorial Area plans are progressing. We received a copy of a letter from Paul Ehrhardt, a retired contractor, who has offered to help with this project. He had actually approached the City Council a year ago, but nothing came of it. Randy contacted him and he expressed an interest in furthering this project. Several board members and other interested people will meet with him in July to see how next to proceed.
Charlie Walker thanked the group and noted that he has found room to store his fuselage cradle.
Brent Burgess then provided the club with info on Samantha Thomas, a young lady very interested in aviation and the aviation camp at LCC this August 9th to 13th. The cost is $490 and includes 3 hours of flight training. The board is still trying to create a process of establishing a scholarship fund for a kid or kids to go to aviation camps. With that in mind, the officers are asking anyone who also knows of a worthy family to forward this info to Ben. We will review all the info and try to make a decision in time for this summers camps.
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:39 PM . Next month bring a video that we can all enjoy with our new projector!

June 2010 meeting minutes
Meeting Notes for June 2nd, 2010
It works! It works! Bill & Rusty's hard work pays off in the form of a dry spot to grill burgers following a downpour
The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs. No chili this time. So sad. Next month for sure!!
Meeting called to order at 7:03 PM by President Ben Hallert with V.P. Bill Dewey and Sec./Tres. Randy Stout also present. The 23 members and guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting thing happened this last month”. Among the guests was Mike Kitt, co-owner of Eugene Flight Center and guest of Bill Robinet. Mike wants to build a Bearhawk from plans and take his time.
The next breakfast will be held on Saturday, 19th of June, and it will be in conjunction with the Luscomb fly-in and the same weekend that the RV pilots meet in Scappoose. Bruce Curtis gave the Treasurer $290 proceeds from the last years breakfasts, dinners etc. Thanks to Bruce, Dave and Melinda Petersen, Bill Dewey and everyone who helped with these meals.
Dave Eason reports that he has made a pre-oiler for his C-65 from various pumps etc. After he uses it on his L-3, he has offered the use of it to anyone in the club who needs one.
President Ben has purchased cables and is making a nice A/V control center at the side of the room. Several members volunteered to get a large white board screen put up, and make a projector mount that will come down from the ceiling when we use the unit. Thanks Ben for all your efforts!
Daniel Cathy then spoke about the upcoming Oregon Air Tour that the OACAC puts on every other year. This year it will start in Cottage Grove on 7/17 and proceed for the next week around the state. Anyone who has been on one has had a great time, and this year it should be especially fun.
Our very hard working VP Bill Dewey mentioned that the patio cover was now complete and ready for painting. Dave Eason volunteered to head up this project and purchase the paint or stain.
Daniel Cathy asked how the Memorial Area plans were progressing. Several designs were discussed with Shelly and she requested that we present a plan and an area where we would like this memorial to be established. We still need someone to design this memorial and get it ready for presentation.
A Young Eagle flight report was then made. We flew 17 kids (but had a great day and enough airplanes for probably 50 more). We made $78 from the breakfast and lunch. Thanks to Ken Schmidt, Dave and Melinda Petersen (those names keep coming up!!), Daniel Cathy and everyone who flew or otherwise made this a safe and fun event.
Brent Burgess told of his adventures flying to Columbia, CA for the annual Luscomb gathering. He knew that cardboard works well for the homeless, and it seems to work well for the tent campers who forget their tents!
Charlie Walker asked if anyone has some room for him to store his fuselage cradle. It is approx. 10’ x 4 ‘and he needs a home for it for about a year.
Bill Robinet told an entertaining story of the first flight of John Kuehls Jodel. I would have loved to have seen this adventure!
Dave Heisley asked if anyone had a dead 17hp Craftsman riding mower. He is kind enough to mow our clubhouse grass and his has broken an axel. Tom Cunningham suggested he come over to his house and check out one that he was given. Hopefully we can get him up and running again.
Dave Petersen is working on installing his upgrade kit to his Zenith 601XL.
Dave Cole then gave a quick talk about his glider clubs auto towing event that they hold in the Alvord Desert in the summer. It will be on the weekend after Arlington and will be held SE of Burns and NW of McDermit. Call him for more info at 541-731-9139
Brent Burgess then asked the club if we can begin the process of establishing a scholarship fund for a kid or kids to go to aviation camps. He knows of a worthy family that would love to send their child to a aviation camp this summer. With that in mind, the officers are asking anyone who also knows of a worthy family to forward this info to Ben. We will review it and try to make a decision in time for this summers camps.
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:01 PM . Next month bring a video that we can all enjoy with our new projector!
