Meeting Notes for October 6th, 2010
The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, Dave (or really Melinda’s) famous chili, salad, chips and cookies. Still a bargain at $4!!
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Sec./Tres. Randy Stout due to illness on the part of President Ben Hallert with V.P. Bill Dewey gone still on vacation. The 15 members and guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting thing happened this last month”. Among the guests was Jakona Matson-Bell, Tim Talen’s talented Ragwood Refactory employee who helped tremendously with Steve Kretsingers 1937 Taylor J-2.
The next Chapter 31 breakfast will be held on Saturday, 16th of October.
The Memorial Area plans are still progressing. As soon as everyone is back from vacation we hope to meet and get the planning process off TDC.
Dave Eason stated that the painting on the new patio cover should be done by next meeting.
The upcoming Christmas party was the next topic of discussion. A tentative date of December 4th was decided on. Dave Petersen mentioned that Ben Hallert will be co-coordinating the festivities this year. Chapter 1452 was invited to join the fun, and Bob Severns will formally invite them at their next meeting. The much enjoyed Prime Rib-Salmon entrees were suggested and a raffle of various prizes. No auction at this time is expected.
We received a nice thank you note and check from the Victory Tabernacle church. They used the facility to stage their own flying event for the kids at the end of September.
Dave Petersen gave a brief YE report. We flew 49 kids with only 3 club planes and pilots, and help from Rick Holman and his 172. Every kid who came got a flight! He has a more detailed report on the web site if you care to take a look. Ken Schmidt noted that Sporty’s has a very nice YE training area on their web site for those kids who are looking forward to the next flying event. Thanks to Dave, Ken and everyone who helped make this a successful event.
Daniel Cathy mentioned that the OACAC will be meeting at the clubhouse on the 23rd of October for their quarterly meeting. Everyone is invited to attend. Dave and Melinda Petersen have offered to make the lunch. The entertainment will be a power point presentation on this years Oregon Air Tour. They are also going to schedule next years fly-out to Lake Chelan at the meeting.
Daniel also noted that he still has the Colb and Adventura HP for sale and he noted that former member George Coulter has his Thorpe T-18 for sale for $26,000
Past President Dave Petersen then fired up the new Big Screen TV and we watched a few short videos and the longer version of the Taylor J-2 video. Bring something on DVD, thumb drive or whatever to next months meeting.
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:38 PM .
Respectfully submitted,
Randall Stout
