Minutes from the 8/3/2011 Meeting

The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot
dogs, and happily with Melinda’s famous chili!
Meeting called to order at 7:04 PM by President Bill Dewey with
Sec./Tres. Randy Stout on his left side.  The 14 members and guests in
attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting
thing happened this last month”. Among the guests were John Rowell,
Alan Vieder, a 25 year Air Force vet who is building an RV-9A and will
be bringing it up from California in the near future and Brent
Hennings and his wife, who just purchased a 1958 182.
The next Chapter 31 breakfast will be held on Saturday, 20th of
August. Make it if you can!.
President Bill gave a quick Memorial Area plans report. He had Roger
Welch speak about John Rowell (Architect), who will be asked to help
him develop the plan for the area and present it to the Creswell City
Council. They will report back next month.
Tim Talen at the Ragwood Refactory has been awarded the Silver Lindy
(Reserve Grand Champion) for his restoration of the Rearwin Speedster
6000C he flew to Oshkosh after a multi-year restoration.
Congratulations to him and his helper Jacona!
It was noted that the Jim Wright Memorial Stearman Fly-In will be held
again at Cottage Grove on Fri-Sat-Sun starting August 5th.
A reminder by Dave Petersen about the Sept. 10th YE event. That is the
Saturday after Labor Day, so put it on your calendar. Dave still needs
pilots and aircraft. Contact him at EAA31@MSN.com if you can help.
Bill Dewey donated a DVD on the Stewart system for covering airplanes.
That concluded the business portion of the meeting.

There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm and
the movie “Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines” resumed
from where it was stopped before the meeting started.
Respectfully submitted,
Randall Stout
