December Chapter 31 meeting Canceled.

We will not be meeting this month as previously planned due to the latest Covid-19 restrictions. Lane county is in the Extreme risk category which prohibits nearly all social gatherings.

At this point, we will be planning on having a meeting on Wednesday, January 6th.

If anyone has any ideas for a club presentation(s) for a January meeting (or any other month), I would greatly appreciate the suggestions.

Thank you and have a great Holiday season, see you all next year.

Meeting Minutes from 11/4/2020 meeting

EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, November 4th, 2020

There was no dinner portion of the meeting, but we did have a pledge of allegiance at the 6:59 PM start of the meeting. President Pat Dodson, V.P. Rod Johnson and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout as officers were present. There were 13 Members in attendance along with Shelly the airport Manager. The business portion of the meeting was called then to order.

  • Checkbook balance was $2663.07 as of the date of the meeting. No change from last month.

President Pat noted that we are not planning a Christmas meeting this year due to Covid concerns.

Bill Dewey spoke about the memorial garden that the club has been working on for the last year or so. They laid bricks and gravel this week. Shelly asked if we could include the downtown Veterans Memorial in our area, and after some discussion it was decided that another area near by would be more appropriate.

Here are some more of Shelly’s notes:

Definitions:

FAA AIP – FAA Airport Improvement Program – airport can get $150,000 per year

COAR – Oregon Department of Aviation, Critical Oregon Airport Relief program

Taxi-lane project completed, just working on paperwork.

10:50 National Anthem

11:00 Aircraft flyover

11:15 Ribbon cutting for EAA Memorial Flagpole

We will possibly fly some folks (veterans) if we can get YE insurance. Pat will check into this.

Next Projects:

  1. Generators installation
  2. Bury south power lines
  3. Design airport runway reconstruction, including replacement of runway lights and papi

Work in progress – possible new development on north end which will include installation of an “Orenco” type wastewater system.

Paul Messer and his sons still have a great desire to fly. Pat O’Renick is allowing them to use his C-150. They are all hoping to attend meetings again after the Covid pandemic is over.

Gary Ludeke gave a quick overview of the Zenith CH-750 that he has helped get into the air. It is now grounded due to a cracked spinner plate. He has put 21 hours on it at this point.

Ex-President John Kuehl would like folks to show up on Saturday, 11/14 at 9:00 to help clean the clubhouse. It has gone downhill since we quit meeting so regularly.

It was suggested by John that we have Pizza for dinner before our next meeting in December. He is going to provide it (with the cash jar ready to re-emburse him) Come at 6:00 if you want Pizza, and 7:00 if you just want to attend the meeting. Next meeting will be at the clubhouse on December 12/2/2020

He then played the Chapter Video from National.

The meeting was then adjourned at 8:26PM

Respectfully submitted,

Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer
