Meeting Minutes from the 1/3/2024 meeting

Meeting Minutes from the 1/03/2024 meeting.

President Eric Farry and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout as officers were present when the Meeting started at 7:04 PM at the clubhouse in Creswell. There were 15 Members and one guest in attendance. Our guest was our own airport manager, Shelly Humble. Welcome!!

President Eric Farry, past President Rod Johnson and Bill Dewey prepared dinner, which consisted of Lasagna, French Bread, salads, Chips, Cookies, and a drink- for $8.00. Thats a bargain!!Thanks guys!

President Eric Farry called the meeting to order. He asked Shelly Humble to give her report on Creswell Airport.

She is trying to get a camera solution purchased as soon as possible, made more urgent by the break in that occurred in the last week of December. She is working to complete 5 CORE grants which include EOC Operations Center, two security gates, other gates and runway lights and tree removal on the end of thirty-four. She is also working on an ARPA grant for the new wastewater treatment plant and was hoping to break ground this spring on the new north taxiways. As she mentioned before, there needs to be an FAA Approved Site evaluation (environmental study) done on potential Salmon impacts of these taxiways. Ham Radio projects and AIP Match grants and balloon lights were also mentioned. Water and Sewer for the North Hangars are due to be connected soon.

Thanks, Shelly, for all your work on the Grants, and please do not retire! We and the whole Creswell Community need you and your experience at the Airport!

President Farry then opened to floor for nominations for officers for the next 2 years. Gary Ludeke was nominated for Vice President (to become President in 2 years) and Randy Stout was nominated to Secretary/Treasurer (his 32nd year!). There being no other nominations, the floor was closed, and a vote was taken to elect the slate of officers as presented. A show of hands indicated that all candidates were elected unanimously. Past President Rod Johnson was thanked for his 2 years of leadership. Thanks everyone for your service!

Remember our next monthly breakfast will be on the 3rd Saturday of the month. We need members to help make the fixings. Walt Weischedel is bringing eggs. The next breakfast will be on January 20th, 2024, at the clubhouse starting at 9:00. Eggs, Bacon, Pancakes and Juice or Coffee for $8- a bargain!! See you there!

Christmas Party!! We all had a wonderful time, with forty-two people from both clubs enjoying the holiday together at the beautifully decorated Clubhouse. Each club made about $175 from dinner tickets and raffle tickets. Thanks to everyone who helped decorate and take down the decorations. Looking forward to next year!

The checkbook balance at the beginning of the year is $1190.72.

The yearly recognition of chapter members was the next order of business, and certificates and pins were given out to the various members who took these positions. Thanks everyone!

Gary Ludeke was then asked to take the floor and discuss the plans for the “Build and Fly” RC model build that the club purchased early last year. He and Pat Dodson along with Jenny Collins, Principle at Creswell High have received applications from 7 High Schools students, who will meet for the first time on January 10th at 2:00 to 5:00 at the clubhouse.

Gary will be checking with EAA National about YE insurance for this project, along with YE money the club may have to spend. It was noted that volunteers will need to have background checks (a bit different than the EAA Risk). We really appreciate Gary, Pat and Jennie being here to get the ball rolling on this YE project!!

Bill Dewey then spoke about the brick project. The original plan was to replace the bricks that were in the picnic area with blank bricks and move the engraved bricks to the flagpole area. We are waiting for approval from Shelly Humble on this project, along with a weather window to make a final decision on the location and to begin replacement of these bricks.

Secretary Stout then noted that 1) Dues are Due from everyone for 2024 ($25), (2) He asked Shelly if should could provide a chain and combo padlock for our gate by the road, (3) He asked when she felt that the gravel pile outside the door might be gone (Soon she hoped, as they are using it around the airport as quickly as possible).

There being no other business the meeting was adjourned by President Farry at 8:10PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer
