Minutes from September 2013 Meeting

EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, September 4th, 2013

The meeting started at 6:00 (Happily with Melinda Petersen’s famous chili), BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, a wonderful carrot cake dessert !! and a drink for only $5 !! Come next month and bring a friend!

Business meeting called to order at 7:00 PM  by Sec./Tres. Randy  Stout.  President Bill Dewey was on a trip.

The 19 members and guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What
exciting thing happened this last month”. Guests included Raliegh (?) Williams, who spoke about his life of flying everything from a J-3 to a T-33, including time in country as a FAO, then an IP in 170’s and other civilian birds.  Also, we hosted Jon Rau from Techtronics, who was just passing through, and knew where to find a good time and good people!

Next Chapter breakfast is September 21st at the clubhouse.

Dave Petersen then gave a good presentation on the recent Creswell Air Fair, and how the club made out. He said that we flew 42 YE kids, and would have flown more except for an hour shutdown that occurred due to weather about half way through. He thanked Don Cole and the Civil Air Patrol for their respective efforts. The breakfast and lunch broke even and he gave the Treasurer the receipts of $409 for deposit. He mentioned that the expenses incurred also gave us a big surplus in pop and food that we will use during the next few months. He suggested that we raise prices at the fly-in breakfast to $7, and Hamburgers to $3 and drinks to $1. Of the people in attendance at the meeting, 7 went to the fly-in and the suggestions for improvement included more advertising and choosing a date early enough that volunteers can schedule their vacation. It was hoped that the club will receive a fly-in report from the City of Creswell when it is done.

Gary Ludeke then spoke about his trip to the Seattle Museum of Flight, and invited everyone to go over to his hangar and look at his homemade (is there any other?) hoist. It was decided to take him up on his offer as soon as the meeting was over, which lit a fire under the presiding officer to get done.

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:49 pm and the meeting was moved to Gary’s hangar to look at his ingenious new hoist. This device allows him to keep an extra airplane in his hangar. Great work Gary!

Respectfully submitted,

Randall Stout
Secretary/ Treasurer
