Meeting Minutes from the 11-2-16 meeting
EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, November 2nd, 2016
The dinner portion of the meeting started at 6:00 PM hosted by President John Kuehl. We had hamburgers, potato salad, chips, fudge/caramel brownies and a drink for only $5? WOW!! . Don’t miss the next meeting dinner!!
The meeting started with the pledge of allegiance at 7:00:50 PM. President John Kuehl, VP Bill Johnson and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout were present. The business and entertainment portion of the meeting was called then to order. There were 18 members and no guests in attendance (except our speaker).
Next Chapter breakfast is Saturday, November 19th. Come out to the clubhouse in the AM and pay $5 for an “all you can eat” breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, OJ, coffee and camaraderie!! Starts at 9:00 and runs to about 10:30 or so.
The old business was called for and the discussion started about the upcoming Christmas party. John Stahr, of Chapter 1457 in Eugene has asked John if they could use the clubhouse for the party. He said yes, of course. The date is still to be announced.
Past President Gary Ludeke gave a quick report on 1) the RV-3 project (keeps getting stalled but he will be working on it this month), 2) the beginning of the flying club (outside of EAA Chapter 31’s activities). The flying club is getting close to the number of potential members needed to start, and so a consensus on which aircraft to buy will be made. Rusty Bartel has offered his C-150 as a potential Club Aircraft. Both Gary and Bill Dewey will spark plug this effort, with Gary giving instruction and BFR’s and Bill turning wrenches with his A/P license. Thanks Guys!!
Past member Daniel Cathey is offering his Volmer Sportsman and Clipper for sale, as health problems are causing him to give up active flying.
There being no other business, President John introduced Robert Hamilton, President of Dynon Avionics to present his products to the group. He has been with them for the past 8 years. It was started in 2000 by John Terand, the Chief Technology Officer of Cypress Semi Conductor.
He then proceeded to show the group all the latest EFIS panels that they produce, up to and including a live demo unit of their new Skyview series of displays. He went over the history of the company and the many challenges they faced in order to create and manufacture the units that are available today. I am sure we would have had a lot more folks at the meeting but for the fact that the Cubs were playing game 7 of the World Series (which they won!!)
Thanks Robert for the great talk and opening everyone’s eyes to the new and much better glass panels that are being made today. I only wish I had an electrical system to use them!!
Being out of time President John did not run the Chapter Video from EAA National.
There being no other business, the meeting was then adjourned at 8:45 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer
