Meeting Minutes from the 1-11-2017 Meeting

EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, January 11th, 2017
The dinner portion of the meeting started at 6:00 PM hosted by Virgil and Bridget Pratt. Bridget made her fabulous Chili with Hot Dogs, with wonderful Corn bread, salad, home-made brownies and cake and a drink for only $5? WOW!!  . Don’t miss her next great meal!!

The meeting (a week late due to bad weather last Wednesday) started with the pledge of allegiance at 6:58:50 PM. President John Kuehl and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout were present. VP Bill Johnson was not in attendance.  The business and entertainment portion of the meeting was called then to order. There were 12 members and no guest in attendance. Welcome to all!!

Next Chapter breakfast is Saturday, January 21st. Come out to the clubhouse in the AM and pay $5 for an “all you can eat” breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, OJ, coffee and camaraderie!! Starts at 9:00 and runs to about 10:30 or so.Bridget will be gone so President John needs volunteers. Thanks in advance guys!

The old business was called for and the new TV set donated by Walt Weischedel was noted and appreciated. We do need a 20 ft. (or so) HDMI cable to be able to use it with our computers. Since we did not have one at this meeting, we used the old projector which worked fine.

President John reported on the beginning of the flying club (outside of EAA Chapter 31’s activities). The flying club is still in the initial assessment of interest mode. Once a number of potential members have been identified, a consensus on which aircraft to buy will be made. Rusty Bartel has offered his C-150 as a potential Club Aircraft, but since it is not LSA licensed, those who want to fly LSA will not be able to use it. Both Gary and Bill Dewey are spark-plugging this effort, with Gary giving instruction and BFR’s and Bill turning wrenches with his A/P license. Thanks Guys!!

President John announced that we will not have the BBQ vendor at this years’ YE flights on the 4th of July. He suggested we contact the folks who set up for the Oregon Aviation Museum events, who are called Big Bites. It was also suggested that if anyone knows of a civic or fraternal group who wants a fund raiser, this would be a good one.

He also asked the members to please recommend or recruit speakers for the upcoming meetings.

After this, he gave out Chapter Service Awards for nearly all members in attendance. Just proves that the active members are also the ones who show up most every meeting.

Secretary Stout then gave the group notice that all dues are due for 2017. Please see him after the meetings or send them to: EAA Chapter 31, 86277 Panorama Rd., Springfield, OR  97478

There being no other business, President John then ran the Chapter Video from EAA National, which featured the EMG-2 (Electric Motor Glider-2) and how they built it. This was a fascinating look at where sport aviation is going in the future.

There being no other business, the meeting was then adjourned at 7:56 PM
Respectfully submitted,

Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer
