Meeting Minutes from 10/7/2020 meeting

EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, October 7th, 2020

There was no dinner portion of the meeting, but we did have a pledge of allegiance at the 7:00 PM start of the meeting. President Pat Dodson, V.P. Rod Johnson and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout as officers were present. There were 11 Members in attendance. The business portion of the meeting was called then to order.

  • Checkbook balance was $2663.07 as of the date of the meeting.

President Pat noted that we are not planning a Christmas meeting this year due to Covid concerns.

Bill Dewey spoke about the memorial garden that the club has been working on for the last year or so. He will be planting a nice tree as soon as the weather permits. They have redesigned it to not have a drain. They should be laying bricks this next week.

A discussion on the Holiday Farm fire and how it has affected several members. It was noted that the helicopters that are now fighting it are landing near short mountain off Hwy. 58

Gary Ludeke gave a brief report on the completion (On September 19th) and flying of Dales Zenith CH-750 STOL. He has 8 hours on it now and has had a few teething pains with the Viking View display. They also found that the main gear bolts were not tightened sufficiently. He is going to have Dale accompany him on future flights using the “Additional Pilot Program”, which this aircraft qualifies for. He also had the front strut powder coated which has caused some friction in the controls. They will sand off the powder where needed and that should take care of it.

Paul Buehler then gave his presentation about the work he did with Heli-Tech to heat treat metal and cut parts with a water jet. He had some nice slides and a lot of interesting stories. Thanks Paul!!

There being no new business, President Pat asked past President John Kuehl to show the EAA Chapter Video where Charlie Becker talked about the layoffs that they had to do at HQ and the YE Day Camp program that is available for any chapter to use.

Eric Ferry then spoke about his trip to purchase an RV-9A, and his final decision to pass on that airplane. He noted that he does not fit as well has he had hoped (along with his even bigger son) and it did not have an ADS-B. He is now looking for an RV-10 or RV-14.

Next meeting will be at the clubhouse on November 4th. It will be just a meeting at 7:00.

The meeting was then adjourned at 8:17PM

Respectfully submitted,

Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer
