February Meeting Minutes 2/1/2012

Meeting Notes February 1st, 2012

The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, and with a large helping of Melinda’s famous chili!

Meeting called to order at 7:01 PM by President Bill Dewey with Sec./Tres. Randy Stout also present. The 19 members and guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting thing happened this last month”. Guests included Dee Dewey (Bills wife of 48 years- it was their anniversary)

The most exciting thing that happened to a member was when a tree fell on Tom Cunninghams house during the recent wind storm, while Tom was in the shower. Ask him about it next time you see him. Also, Gary Ludeke talked about his “Pro-Seal” problems in his RV-6 and Charlie Walker talked about his RV-9.

Bruce Curtis reported that he has completed (along with his partners) their Citabria and it was flown for the first time by Bob Severns. Speaking of Bob, he was given his Tech Counselor certificate and pin for service in 2011- Thanks Bob!

David Diment spoke about his new projects, electric powered bikes!! Now to move over to airplanes and he will be ready to go.

President Bill commented on the 2 projects we will be tackling this year (besides the memorial area) and they are 1) Pressure Wash the building and 2) replace the Chapter 31 sign on the building. Rusty has contacted his son who helped last time on the sign and we are trying to get the old logo file so they can set up to build the new sign.

The memorial park has progressed. A steel building manufacturer has been contacted and will be asked to help with plans that could be accepted by the Creswell Airport Commission. Past President Dave Petersen asked the group to consider not erecting any structure until a later time and focus on getting the memorial garden and bridge competed . This seemed to strike a cord with President Bill, so it looks like he will be focusing on this aspect of the project.

He also noted that the Boy Scouts are considering an aviation Merit Badge that the chapter could help with. He will let us know how this progresses.

Dave Petersen has done one more breakfast (on 1/21/2012) and has decided that the prices does not need to be raised. From now on both breakfasts and dinners will be $5!

Past member Don Bowers wife, Faye, passed away and was remembered by Bruce Curtis.

Hank Strauch’s Sea Ray is for sale. Speaking of which, there being no new business, the meeting was adjourned and a Sea Ray video was presented. The regional Sea Ray dealer will give demo’s to anyone who shows up, but call first to 530-521-3380
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:44 pm

Respectfully submitted,

Randall Stout
Secretary/ Treasurer
