President Pat Dodson, V.P. Rod Johnson and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout as officers were present. Among the members in attendance were, Gary Ludeke, Paul Buehler, Mat Northway, Dave Eason, Walt Weischedel, Bill Dewey, Roger Welch and Eric Ferry. The business portion of the meeting was called then to order. There were 10 members total in attendance per State of Oregon guidelines.

Checkbook balance was $2763.07 as of the date of
the meeting.

Our incredible airport manager, Shelly Humble then spoke
about several issues.

Here is a breakdown of what she discussed
at this EAA meeting (I didn’t get her notes so I hope I got these right!):

Taxi-lane
project – City received a grant offer to replace the entrance road.

No City match will be
required for this AIP grant due to CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic
Security) Act.

Cost to install the new fuel station was $3800 instead of the expected $500, so much of her annual maintenance budget has been spent on just this upgrade.

A
new commercial (aircraft related) tenant is expected to be announced shortly.
The airport intends to install an “Orenco” sanitation system and Loop fire
suppression system.

Long
time member Larry Davis is out of the hospital and into rehab. Visit him if you
can at Valley River Rehab.

Past President John Kuehl noted that he and President Pat Dodson visited with the new clubhouse neighbors and explained how we have worked together on their water well so that we could have water and they would have no cost to maintain it. The new folks (I didn’t write down their names-darn!) were very nice to them and agreed to keep the situation as it was before. Thanks guys!! Saved us a bunch of money and trouble and made some very nice friends.

There being no new business, President Pat adjourned the meeting to regroup outside and have an interesting show and tell from Mat Northway on his new (to him) 1929 Brunner Winkle Bird biplane. Mat told the story of how he found it at WAAM as a bit of a project plane, made an offer to buy it subject to them fixing it and finding an instructor to help him transition into it, then learning to fly it as he has. Thanks Mat! for all the interesting details and a great presentation.

President Pat then asked the group for ideas that we can
present to the membership about a project that the club can start. He knows
that it needs to be a great idea, have a sparkplug member to spearhead it and
lots of participation. Please contact him if you can think of something that
will really appeal to a lot of aviation minded folks.

Next meeting will be at the clubhouse on October 7th. It will be just a meeting at 7:00. Masks are mandatory.

There being no other new or old business, Past President
John Kuehl then showed 3 EAA hints for homebuilders videos.

The meeting was then adjourned at 8:28PM

Respectfully submitted,

Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer

EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, September 2nd, 2020 There was no dinner portion of the meeting, but we did have a pledge of allegiance at the 7:02 PM start of the meeting.
