Dinner Volunteers:  Bridgett & Virgil won’t be able to take care of our dinner needs due to an injury.  SO – we need some volunteers to update our burger & dog inventory and other goodies for Wednesday April 5th.  Please phone President John with your commitment(s).

Thanks

Flying Club Cessna 150

Just a quick update on the status of Rusty Bartel’s C-150 intended to be used in the formation of the new flying club. Bill Dewey has been working on the Annual Inspection. The starter on the airplane had been acting up back when Rusty was flying the airplane a few years ago. The decision was made to replace the manually-actuated starter with a new, lighter-weight, push button-actuated starter. Rusty ordered the starter and it has arrived. Bill will install the starter and then, as far as he knows, the only other issue is weak output on the left magneto. The solution to the problem is pending.

Meeting Minutes from the 3/1/2017 meeting

EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, March 1st, 2017

The dinner portion of the meeting started at 6:00 PM hosted by Virgil and Bridget Pratt. Bridget made her fabulous Lasagna, French bread, salad and home-made brownies and cake and a drink for only $5? WOW!! . Don’t miss her next great meal!!

The meeting started with the pledge of allegiance at 6:57 PM. President John Kuehl, VP Bill Johnson and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout were present. The business and entertainment portion of the meeting was then called to order. There were 18 members and one guest in attendance. The guest was Larry Novachuck (?) from Chapter 936. Welcome to all!!

Next Chapter breakfast is Saturday, March 18th. Come out to the clubhouse in the AM and pay $5 for an “all you can eat” breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, OJ, coffee and camaraderie!! Starts at 9:00 and runs to about 10:30 or so. Thanks in advance for all the guys who show up and cook the meal!

Bridget and Virgil were given a standing ovation for the fine meal they prepared this month. What a wonderful couple to give of themselves so much!!

The old business was called for and noted that we need a new 23 ft. (or so) HDMI cable for the donated TV set. It appears that the first one is defective. He also noted that our April meeting will host Dr. Richard Hansen, the local AME, who will discuss the new rules for class 3 medical licenses. Don’t miss it!!

The secretary also noted that dues are due again. If you have not paid, please send your $25 check to: EAA Chapter 31

Gary Ludeke came forward and gave the YE report. It seems that we have 41 YE credits to spend, worth approximately $205. The club talked about the various things that we could buy with that money including snow fence, vests and traffic cones, but one of the most promising appears to be a YE banner. More to come on this subject, but they must be used before 12/31/2017
Gary then continued with a RV-3 report. He and his crew have hung the wings and it is nearly ready for paint. Gary is hoping to paint it white and hopes that perhaps Van’s will donate the Decals we would need to make it look finished. He is trying to get it done in time to deliver at the annual “Wings and Wheels” event this summer.

There being no other business, President John gave a brief demo on how to make a file handle and then ran a few other Hints for Homebuilders videos. He then ran an interview with an F-84 pilot who flew in Korea. Lastly he ran the Chapter Video from EAA National, which featured a C-5 Galaxy and Hints for Homebuilders.

There being no other business, the meeting was then adjourned at 8:18 PM

Respectfully submitted,
Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer

Spoke with Steve Letson after last night’s EAA31 meeting.  He has a 1948 NAVION at Walker Field and needs to connect with an IA Mechanic.  The plan is to get the NAVION in shape for a ferry permit, get it to the Creswell Airport and continue work from there.  Anyone having knowledge or recommendations. please contact Steve at 541 729 3269.
