Meeting Minutes of the 9/7/2016 meeting
EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, September 7th, 2016
The dinner portion of the meeting started at 6:00 PM. There were Costco Hot Dogs, great hamburgers, chips and a drink for only $5.
The meeting started with the pledge of allegiance at 7:02 PM. President John Kuehl, VP Bill Johnson and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout were present. The business and entertainment portion of the meeting was called then to order. There were 21 members in attendance. Welcome to all!!
Next Chapter breakfast is Saturday, September 17th. Come out to the clubhouse in the AM and pay $5 for an “all you can eat” breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, OJ, coffee and camaraderie!! Starts at 9:00 and runs to about 10:30 or so.
President John then spoke about his trip to Oshkosh. He purchased for our chapter 21 EAA T Shirts for sale for $5 during our next YE event. He spoke about all the drone exhibits and the 3D printers. He then launched into the monthly EAA Chapter Video, which featured the “Lil Cub STOL” aircraft.
After the video, he thanked Ken Schmidt for donating a new First Aid Kit. (I saw him hanging it up on the wall after breakfast on Saturday!) Thanks Ken!!
He then noted that the RV-3 static display project is coming to life again, thanks to Gary Ludeke and friends. Tom Cunningham reminded Gary that he is willing and able to help with this project.
He also asked the Secretary to check into the status of the brick for Hal Skinner (Hal and Milo Skinner’s accident was remembered at this time, as it occurred just over a year ago) The status is: the club is waiting for another 2 bricks to be purchased in order to have the mandatory 5 brick minimum to place the order.
Alan Weider noted that anyone who is looking for the lease expensive (around $2000) certified ADS-B out system, should check out the Free Flight unit. He also recommended that you make your own ADS-B In unit with a Raspberry Pi.
Bill Dewey then suggested we dust off the idea of starting a flying club, outside of EAA of course. President John noted that AOPA has a “Form a Flying Club” plan available, and Secretary Stout pulled all the old flying club info out of the archives and gave it to him.
It was then noted that WAAM in Hood River will be holding their annual fly-in this weekend.
There being no other business, the meeting was then adjourned at 8:15 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer
