EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, August 5th, 2020*

The meeting started with the pledge of allegiance at 7:04 PM by President Pat Dodson with V.P. Rod Johnson and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout also present. The business and entertainment portion of the meeting was called then to order. There were 12 members and guests in attendance.  The guests included Craig Henry and Jasmine Darcy, and Francisco Garabay. Welcome all!!

Checkbook balance was $3096 as of the date of the meeting.

An update to the Creswell Airport taxiway project, it was noted that they have hit clay and will be laying down Petro mats to prevent damage.

Our dear member Larry Davis has taken another fall and broke a hip, ribs and shoulder. He will be going into surgery and not driving in the future.

Chapter 1457 had a potluck on the 3rd. We will not be having breakfasts or dinners until we have clearance from the state.

Gary Ludeke then gave an update on the Zenith 750 build he is helping with. The panel is done and installed.  They are waiting for 1 gauge to complete the panel. They are hoping for a DAR to inspect by the end of the month.

Dick Frontzak’s estate is still selling his RV-6A. Price is $47,000. If interested, contact the Oregon Aviation Museum in Cottage Grove.

Past member Rusty Bartel and his wife are moving to San Jose to live with or close to their daughter. Memory and Parkinson issues are taking their toll. Allen Weider is buying Rusty’s hangar and plans to buy Charlie Walkers RV-9A and finish it.

Tom Buckhouse got his PPL last week.

The new owners next to the clubhouse has kept the water on at this point. Both Pat and John will make contact with them and explain the past understanding and (hopefully) convince them to continue providing water in exchange for maintenance of their pump and well. They are Kayla and Brad Hicks and we are told are very nice people. Bill Dewey met her while mowing the lawn.

It was noted with sadness that the Oregon Antique and Classic Aircraft Club has decided to disband after 40 years. Lack of members and their desire to lead, along with Covid has lead to this decision.

The Take Flight program is also cancelled this year.

There being no other new or old business, Past President John then showed the Monthly Chapter Video and 2 Hints for Homebuilders.

The meeting was then adjourned at 8:08PM and everyone went over to President Pat Dodson’s house to look at his Hummelbird project. Nice work- well finished!!

Respectfully submitted,   Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer
