Meeting Minutes for 1/4/2012

Meeting Notes January 4th, 2012

The meeting started at 6:00 with our normal BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, and with a large helping of Melinda’s famous chili!

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by President Bill Dewey with Sec./Tres. Randy Stout also present. An exciting video from the “Aviator” TV show was then aired for all the folks. It showed the fun of the fly-in and the damage that the mini-tornado caused at the past Sun-N-Fun fly-in.

The 20 members and guests in attendance then introduced themselves and gave a brief “What exciting thing happened this last month”. Past member and RV builder Dick Fronzak was a guest. He has a prop for sale and can be reached at 541-484-2898. Also Alan Weider (our newest member) spoke about the RV-12 that he was building. Gary Ludeke quoted “your RV is not done until you sell it!”

John Kuehl has ½ of a 172 and also a whole Porsche for sale. Contact him at 541-689-0847 or at john.kuehl@continet.com

Dave Eason mentioned that Daniels field has a hangar available $150 and that Hank Strauch’s Sea Ray is for sale. We have a video of the Sea Ray and will be showing it next month. The regional Sea Ray dealer will give demo’s to anyone who shows up, but call first to 530-521-3380

Bill McWorter is putting on the wings of his Sonix Sonari on 1/5 at the airport around noon. Show up if you want to lend a hand.

President Bill noted that we have 2 projects this year (besides the memorial area) and they are 1) Pressure Wash the building and 2) replace the Chapter 31 sign on the building. He asked Rusty to contact his son who helped last time. The memorial park has progressed. A steel building manufacturer has been contacted and will be asked to help with plans that could be accepted by the Creswell Airport Commission.

He also noted that the Boy Scouts are considering an aviation Merit Badge that the chapter could help with. He will let us know how this progresses.

Dave Petersen is doing one more breakfast (on 1/21/2012) before he decides if the prices need to be raised. Be sure to make this one!!

Past President Hank Anderson’s memorial will be on 1/10 at 2:00 at First Baptist Church.

President Bill then gave out chapter service awards.

Gary Ludeke then rose to speak about the upcoming Oregon Air Tour. It will begin on 7/6 with a dinner at Cottage Grove. The next day it will progress to Roseburg (RON), Myrtle Creek-Prospect (RON), Chiloquin-Christmas Valley (RON), Hermiston (RON) and then back. Should be a real fun time.

Our water provider, club member and good guy Dave Heisley then noted that the water will be shut off in February to confirm his water rights, and will be shut off anytime the weather freezes hard. He takes great care with the clubhouse and blows out  the water lines when this happens. Thanks Dave!!
There being no new business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:24 pm

Respectfully submitted,

Randall Stout
Secretary/ Treasurer
