JULY 4 PARADE FLYBY
For all of you who have been participating in previous Creswell parade flybys, and who would like to participate again this year, please have your aircraft on the mid-field ramp not later than 10:20 and be in the vicinity of the fuel pumps by 10:30 for the pilot’s briefing. We’ll plan to be belted into the aircraft for a 10:55 engine start and an 11:00 takeoff. I hope all of you can stay around to fly Young Eagles after the flyby. The weather forecast is for good weather so we should be able to have a great day of flying!

GEARING UP FOR THE 4th OF JULY #4
RADIO’S! If you have a portable Nav/Com you won’t be using on the 4th, we could use it. It would improve our ground communications.

GEARING UP FOR THE 4th OF JULY #3
T – Shirts. Ground crew. If you have your white pocket T Young Eagles shirt from last year, be sure to wear it on the 4th. If you don’t have one, we still have some in the storage locker at the EAA 31 hangar. Grab one that fits (or almost fits) and put $5.00 in the kitty for same. We are getting closer.
Pres John.

GEARING UP FOR THE 4th OF JULY #2
When you show up for a preparation meeting on the 3rd or for Young Eagles on the 4th, bring copies of Sport Aviation or Kitplanes you no longer want to keep. We still have about 130 avery label stickers promoting Chapter 31. We might as well give them to the people that show up. Very inexpensive advertising. Thanks

GEARING UP FOR THE 4th OF JULY
You don’t need to be a member of EAA Chapter 31 to fly young eagles on the 4th. If you are a current EAA member (national), current in your aircraft with a current flight review with passenger liability insurance and your plane is airworthy, and you have completed the EAA on-line background check, YOU can fly young eagles. See young faces beaming with satisfaction! We need all the pilots we can get. If you haven’t yet signed up (you can just show up) please send me the following:
Full legal name; Aircraft type; N number; your email address; phone #; EAA #; EAA Chapter # (if applicable).
We especially need multiple passenger aircraft (172’s 182’s etc) to give more kids a chance to experience their very 1st airplane ride. Text me at 541 729 1217 or e-mail @ johnkuehl@comcast.net Thanks

Meeting Minutes from the 6/6/2018 meeting
EAA Chapter 31 Meeting, June 6th, 2018
The dinner portion of the meeting started at 6:00 PM with our host Jim Orglisso providing a great Lasagna with spinach salad, bread and cookies for desert along with drinks for only $8! Thanks Jim!
Gary Ludeke has offered to arrange the August dinner (we will not be meeting in July except on July 4th to fly Young Eagles at the clubhouse at 10:00AM) Gary also offered to take a press release to the Creswell Cornicle for publication. He will also be the squadron leader for the YE pilots and fly-over pilots. John Kuehl will be flight coordinator. Club 1457 offered to fly any YE’s that were unable to fly at our event at their event on the 7th of July.
The meeting started with the pledge of allegiance at 7:00 PM. Sharp.
President John Kuehl, V.P. Gary Ludeke and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout were present. The business and entertainment portion of the meeting was then called to order. There were 24 members and guests in attendance. Our Guests included Cassandra Barrong and Tim Talen from the Oregon Aviation Historical Society (our presenters for the night)
Next Chapter breakfast is Saturday, June 16th . Come out to the clubhouse in the AM and pay $8 for an “all you can eat” breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, OJ, coffee and camaraderie!! Starts at 9:00 and runs to about 10:30 or so. Thanks in advance for all the guys who show up and cook the meal!
Bill Dewey noted that their flying club airplane (a C-150) is now done and ready to go. He said that unless he gets more interested parties, Rusty will have to sell the plane. Contact him if you are interested. 541-345-0480
Secretary Stout then reminded the group about name tags. Everyone in attendance should have their name tag on, just to make sure we get to know each other better. Also, the check book balance is $3563.59
Vice President Gary then gave a nice video presentations; “Go Around” and “Oregon Air Mail Service”
John then introduced Tim and Cassandra, who gave a nice presentation on the “Beaverton Bandits” and how they agreed to disagree with the CAA regarding aircraft licensing during the 1920’s and 30’s. It seems that the Oregon Aeronautics Division began in 1921 and licensed airplanes (with real license plates). In 1926 the Federal Government began licensing airplanes and by 1938 the CAA was born. They had a wonderful presentation with George Bogardes, Les Long, George Yates, Walt Rupert, Charlie Bernard, Pete Bowers. Tim has an EAA # of 8165 and joined when he was 14 years old. They finished the presentation discussing what the OAHS does and what they expect to do for the 100th anniversary of the Oregon Aviation Dept. in 2021. Thanks to them both for a very good evening of history of Oregon Aviation!
President John then ran the EAA Monthly Chapter Video, with video of a Super Cub on Floats which we all enjoyed.
There being no other business, President John then adjourned at 8:55PM
respectfully submitted,
Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer
