Saturday Breakfast July 16, 2022
Sorry for the late reminder. We are having our Saturday breakfast tomorrow at 9:00am. The cost is $8.00 and we will be serving pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee and juice.
We are also flying some Young Eagles who were not able to fly on the 4th of July. There are about 8-10 kids that have responded to Shelly Humble reaching out to them. We are hoping to start flying about 10am.
Hopefully we have a good crowd
We will be having our July meeting on July 6th at 7:00pm at the Chapter 31 club house at the south end of the Creswell airport. Dinner will be at 6:00pm with a cost of $8.00.
Alan Weider will be giving a presentation on his recently completed RV-9 build that promises to be both informative and entertaining.
A big thanks to President Rod Johnson and all of the volunteers for doing an outstanding job at the July 4th Young Eagles event. We do need to single out airport manager Shelly Humble for her involvement and help, it was very much appreciated and thanks to her, we had a very successful and fun day. GREAT

Just wanted to remind everyone that we are having the Young Eagles 4th of July organization meeting tomorrow, Saturday July 2nd at 10am. We will be meeting at the Chapter 31 clubhouse at the south end of the Creswell airport Anyone who is planning to participating is asked to attend if possible.
Another reminder. We are planning on having our regular Chapter 31 Meeting on Wednesday, July 6th at 7pm with dinner at 6. Alan Weider is going to do a presentation on his RV9 project he just completed and sold.
Chapter 31 Young Eagles flying, 4th of July
We are proceeding with our plans regarding flying Young Eagles on the 4th of July. Several notes;
We will be having an organizational meeting next Saturday at 10 am at the Chapter 31 club house to make sure we have our ducks in a row.

President Rod Johnson, V.P. Eric Farry and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout as officers were present when the Meeting started at 7:03PM at the clubhouse in Creswell. There were 16 Members and 3 guests in attendance. Guests John Parker (former airline pilot and now builder of an RV-8), Dan Hogan and Ben Grubb our guest speakers for the evening. Welcome to all!!
Dinner was prepared by President Rod Johnson, Secretary Stout and Paul Beuhler, and consisted of Hot Dogs and Hamburgers, salad, Cookies and a drink- for $8.00!!
President Rod Johnson called the meeting to order. He had the guests in attendance introduce themselves then he asked for any old business. The YE preparations were discussed. Then our airport manager, Shelly Humble made an entrance and gave us her report on the building activity that will be occurring this fall on the runway. It will be closed from August 15th to September 28th. There will not be any billing to hangar tenants during this time. The emergency generators that the airport has ordered are on a truck and heading this way. She has several grants that will be funded this year and early next. The plan is to construct another row of T hangars and have a bathroom in the building. Thanks Shelly
We have started our monthly breakfast on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Therefore, we need members to help make the fixings. Walt Weischedel will bring his eggs and Bill Dewey will check on the rest of the supplies. The next breakfast will be on June 18th at the clubhouse starting at 9:00. Eggs, Bacon, Pancakes and Juice or Coffee for $8- a bargain!! We may be hosting a lot of the folks who are participating in the Emergency Prep exercise that is going on at the same time. See you there!!
The checkbook balance is now $1442.52 so don’t forget to send you money in for dues if you haven’t already.
There being no other business, President Johnson introduced Dan Hogan, Head Supervisor at the FAA Control tower at Mahlon Sweet Airport. Dan gave a very nice Q and A session with questions ranging from radar coverage to No-transponder procedures for inbound traffic. He noted that you can call the tower at 541-607-4630 for information or to schedule a tour. Thanks Dan!
After Dan’s talk, President Johnson introduced Chapter 1457 President Ben Grubb. Ben gave a video presentation of the 60 Minutes segment on manned EVTOL aircraft now in development. After that segment, he showed a couple of YouTube videos on other craft not mentioned and finally a homebuilt effort that also carried a person. Overall, the thrust (no pun intended) of the development of EVTOL’s revolves around the battery life and strength. As this challenge is overcome, more and more of these aircraft will find acceptance and be built by factories and homebuilders. Thanks Ben!!

EAA Chapter 31 is going to be giving Young Eagles Flights on Monday, July 4th and we need pilots and ground volunteers.
At this point I think we have five pilots, Ray Morse, Randy Stout, Mat Northway, Dave Cole and Pat Dodson to give rides.
Please let myself or Rod know if there is anyone I missed or if you would like to fly kids.
Reminder; We do need to be current with EAA’s Youth Protection Training and background check.
On a different note, I have a cabinet in my hanger that I’m going to get rid of. It is aprox. 48″ tall x 93″ long and 14″ deep. If you think you want it let me know, it’s free. Pat Dodson, 541-968-3253.
