Meeting Minutes from the 4/6/2022 meeting
Meeting Minutes from the 4/6/2022 meeting.
President Rod Johnson, V.P. Eric Farry and Secretary/ Treasurer Randy Stout as officers were present when the Meeting started at 7:00PM at the clubhouse in Creswell. There were 11 Members and 5 guests in attendance.
Dinner was prepared by Past President Pat Dodson, Eric Farry and President Rod Johnson, and consisted of Hot Dogs and Hamburgers, salad, Cookies and a drink- for $8.!!
President Rod Johnson called the meeting to order and after the pledge of Allegiance, asked everyone in attendance to rise and introduce themselves and the project/airplanes they are involved with at the present time. Guests included Peter Kolek, John Parker (former airline pilot and now builder of an RV-8), Malachi Lock (New CFI from LCC) and our guest speaker for the evening, Brendon Omara and his wife Jessica.
Rod then asked Brendon to come up and give his presentation. He is involved in a company called Crazedpilot.com in Salem that has a full motion simulator (in addition to a bunch of products for You Tubers) and gave a talk about Proficiency Vs. Currency. He asked for a show of hands from those in attendance regarding their currency, training they have received and a few other parameters. He noted that when in an emergency your muscle memory (Procedural memory times repetition) is your best (if not only) hope of a good result. This focused emergency based proficiency raining is key to that outcome and his company provides it. His web site (crazedpilot.com/sim) has the information you will need to get started with them. The cost for initial emergency training is $195 for a 2 hour sim session.
Rod then brought the groups attention to a correction and explanation document he has been working on that reviews the “FAA Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge-VFR”. Anyone who has an interest should see Rod. Lots of work went into this! Rod also offered to become the new YE Coordinator for this years 7/4 YE event.
It was decided to start with our monthly breakfast on the 3rd Saturday of the month starting in April. We asked for members to help and 4 people raised their hands! Walt Weischedel will bring his eggs and Bill Dewey will check on the rest of the supplies. The next breakfast will be on April 16th at the clubhouse starting at 9:00. Eggs, Bacon, Pancakes and Juice or Coffee for $8- a bargain!! See you there!!
Treasurer Stout noted again that Dues for 2022 are due now, and that many of the folks in attendance have paid them. If you cannot attend the meetings (due to Covid or schedule), it would be much appreciated if you would send a check made out to “EAA Chapter 31” for $25 and send this to:
86277 Panorama Road, Springfield, OR 97478
The checkbook balance is now $1489.45 so we could really use the funds for our normal expenses.
Walt Weischedel then rose and showed the group his take on handles for files.
John Kuehl then showed us the most recent EAA National Chapter Video Magazine. Of interest was the 1 week wonder (build to fly) of a Sonix Waiex at this years Oshkosh Fly-In.
There being no other business the meeting was adjourned at 8:25PM
Respectfully submitted,
Randall Stout, Secretary/ Treasurer
